Are all of your pieces handmade?
Yes. Every Hopkins Hardwood Design piece is individually designed and handcrafted by artist and craftsman Nicholas Hopkins in Wading River, New York.
Are your pieces one-of-a-kind?
Yes. Each piece is individually created using carefully selected hardwoods. Natural variations in grain, color, and the combinations of woods used mean no two pieces are exactly alike.
Do you use dyes or stains to create the colors?
No. The colors you see come naturally from the wood itself. We work with more than 20 species of domestic and exotic hardwoods from around the world and do not use dyes, paints, or stains to create the colors in our designs.
Are your cutting boards food-safe?
Yes. Our cutting boards and other food-contact pieces are finished with food-safe products designed for use on wooden kitchenware.
Can I actually cut on these boards?
Absolutely. Although our boards are designed to be beautiful enough to display, they are made to be functional and used.
How do I care for my board?
Hand wash with warm water and mild dish soap, dry thoroughly, and periodically condition the wood with food-grade mineral oil or board conditioner. Never place your piece in the dishwasher, soak it in water, or leave it in a hot car for prolonged periods. See our Care Instructions page for complete care information.
Do you offer engraving?
Yes. Engraving is available on many of our pieces, allowing you to personalize a board for yourself or as a gift.
Do you accept custom orders?
Yes. Custom projects are available depending on the design, materials, and current workload. Contact us to discuss what you have in mind.
Will the piece I receive look exactly like the photos?
For one-of-a-kind pieces, the product photographs show the actual piece being offered unless otherwise stated. Because wood is a natural material, its appearance may vary slightly depending on lighting and viewing conditions.
What is your return policy?
Because our pieces are individually handcrafted and one-of-a-kind, all sales are final except in cases of shipping damage, defects, or workmanship issues that are not caused by the customer. Please see our Shipping & Returns page for complete details.
